Chez Magali is a country house on two floors, sleeping 6 people (+ cot) in one double (with en suite) and two double bedrooms. The house has a first-floor balcony, a patio, a Mediterranean-style garden with shrubs and flowers, and a private secure parking space. An adjacent grassed garden may be used as an additional sitting-out or play area. Chez Magali is approached from the lane which leads down to the river Aude and along the vineyards.

The ground floor consists of a porch with adjacent w.c., and beyond the porch the enormous living-room which includes the spacious and well-equipped kitchen. In the sitting-area, there are comfortable settees, a satellite television, a CD/cassette radio, and plenty of books and cassettes to suit most tastes. Windows look towards the south over gardens and to the west towards the vineyards. Two of the interior walls are ‘pierre apparente’ and the beamed ceiling retains its original features.

The kitchen area is very well equipped with a dishwasher, washing-machine, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, 4-ring electric cooker with separate grill and oven. The units are modern with ample storage space. The dining-table seats six people with ease.

The porch leads to the patio, with its external seating, barbecue and parking area. The Mediterranean-style garden consists of a patio with external seating, surrounded by plants, bushes and shrubs, and is maintenance-free. An adjacent grassed garden may be used also. A security light offers safe access at night.

The first floor has three bedrooms, bathroom, separate w.c., and linen cupboard. The double bedroom has a four-poster bed and an en suite shower/basin room. This bedroom and one of the two twin bedrooms face south, overlooking gardens towards Mount Alaric and the Corbières hills. The other twin bedroom faces towards the river Aude. It has a balcony looking over the garden and the vineyards towards the river. The bathroom has a basin, and a bath with hand-shower. There is a second w.c. on this floor. A travel cot is provided and there is a removable barrier across one of the bedroom doors for toddlers’ safety.

Chez Magali does not have central heating, but the electric heaters are more than adequate. The house is all-electric, and furnished, equipped and decorated to a high standard.

All linen is provided, including bath- and hand-towels, but you should bring your own towels for sun-bathing or for use on the beach. Electricity and heating are free in the late spring, summer and early autumn. Heating costs are negotiated at other times. We send you keys in advance.

Floure is situated in the Minervois, an area well known for its excellent wine. Chateau de Floure offers a magnificent restaurant set in beautiful grounds. To the south of the village lie the Corbières, a scarcely populated range of hills well worthy of exploration. To the north rise the Montagne Noire and the National Park, the last bastion of the Massif Central. Several historic cathedral cities are within easy reach, including Montpellier, Beziers, Castres, Albi, Narbonne, Perpignan, Toulouse and St. Pons de Thomieres. Access to the autoroute is at Trèbes 3 miles away, and from there it is a quick drive to Narbonne and the Mediterranean beaches at Gruissan and Narbonne Plage – or a 90-minute drive to Toulouse.
