Le Chemin Vert is a beautifully restored farmhouse and converted barn in a tranquil setting with fabulous views all round and brilliant starry nights. It has a large garden and private pool.

Near the Charente-Dordogne border, the house sleeps 10-12 and is modern, convenient and comfortable with original features, full central heating, a wood-burning stove and traditional open fire. The pool, set in a wide lawn, is 5mx10m with safety gate, fencing and inside ledge, a paved surround, and lights above and below the surface. There is also a barbecue for suppers outside under the sky. There are outdoor games, a swing, 'pirate boat' and sand, lots of practical garden furniture including large tables on each of the two terraces. Inside there are plenty of books and English TV if you really need it! On the ground floor are two ensuite bedrooms, one with French windows to the garden, a study with a sofabed and a large sunny sitting/dining room. There is a separate downstairs lavatory and wash basin. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a separate laundry room. Upstairs are three double bedrooms, one ensuite (bath and separate shower) with south-facing balcony, one with twin beds, one with a sloping ceiling and four beds (brilliant for children), and another bathroom. A cot and high chair are available. p>

The excellent village shop is just down the hill and includes a small bar, and the market town of Mareuil-sur-Belle with SPA supermarket is a few minutes' drive away. You can walk to L'Auberge de L'Etang Blue and there is lots to explore nearby including Brantome on an island surrounded by the Dronne with canoes for hire and really good riverside restaurants and Aubeterre with amazing monolithic church and beautiful riverside sandy beach for kids.
