The village of St Privat des Pres is just a short a walk away. Here you can collect your freshly baked morning croissants, baguettes and replenish your supplies at the baker/general store. Visit the two interesting museums and the Romanesque church in the village. Take some refreshments with the villagers at the bar alongside the general store. Aubeterre (7km), one of the prettiest hilltop villages in France, with fantastic views over the valley. It has restaurants, bars, shops, cafes around the central, tree lined square. Aubeterre is also famed for its Monolithic cave church carved into solid rock over hundreds of years. St Aulaye(5km) is a bustling village with a supermarket, butchers, boulangeries, restaurants and bars.
