Dordogne country cottage with pool sleeps 6. La Wisteria, within La Marteille, is a fantastic 16th Century French cottage in the Dordogne, near Aubeterre. Set in 3 acres, with a large pool and lovely views. It has superb, spacious accommodation for up to 6 people. Wildlife is abundant, with deer, red squirrels, and a wide variety of birds; green woodpeckers, jays, hoopoes and buzzards. The very comfortable accommodation at La Wisteria is in a delightfully converted 450-year old farmhouse that retains many original features such as beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls. There are 3 bedrooms (2 double and 1 twin), 2 bathrooms/showers, each with WC, a comfortable sitting room and a fully equipped kitchen. Bed linen is supplied and a Luxury Welcome Pack is provided. Equipped also with a large Sky TV, CD player, a large selection of books and board games. The property has lovely views across the valley to the village of St Privat des Pres, just a short a walk away. Here you can collect your freshly baked croissants, baguettes and replenish your supplies at the butcher, baker/general store. Take some refreshments with the villagers at the bar alongside the general store. As well as the swimming pool there is plenty of lawn space to play football, badminton, boules or croquet, or to sit quietly and enjoy the views. Interesting places to visit include: Aubeterre, one of the prettiest hilltop villages in France; Riberac, with one of the best open markets in the Dordogne; St Emilion, Brantome, Sarlat, Perigueux, and many other mediaeval towns, and the prehistoric caves of Lascaux. Bergerac and Bordeaux are our nearest airports.
