La Croix du Courret is a complex of three buildings standing at the crossroad at the top of the hill, 1 km from Coutures. Coutures is 4 km from Verteillac and 13 km from Riberac in the northern part of the Dordogne, also called Perigord Vert. The little house (La Petite Maison) is just across the courtyard from the main house, the home of Jack and Jennifer Gray. Formerly a small semi-derelict building, it was renovated to a high standard in 2004. On the ground floor is a large sitting room, that can also be used as double bedroom. A kitchen/dining room leads off this room and a bathroom opens off a small entrance hall. A spiral staircase leads up from the kitchen to a bedroom above. The main room, whose walls have been finished in the traditional pierre apparent, contains a large double sofa-bed, and other chairs, a Yamaha piano, bookshelf, TV/video and DVD player. The modern kitchen is well-equipped with large working surface, a steel sink, electric cooker, fridge, freezer and microwave oven. The dining table can seat four people. The bathroom has a bath with shower, toilet, handbasin, a heated towel rail and is equipped with an electric clothes drier.There is no washing machine in the house, but one installed in the other house can be used at no extra cost, whenever necessary. The bedroom above has two comfortable single beds, several chests of drawers, wardrobe unit, telephone, and hi-fi unit.A large french window leads from the main room to a west-facing terrace which has splendid views on both sides

Looking over two valleys. The terrace is ramped to allow wheelchair access. The front door also leads from this terrace. A second french window, on the opposite side of the main room,leads to the courtyard between the two houses.
