The local village hall is often used for community functions and dances through the Spring and Summer season and people are very friendly and welcoming. There is a Catholic Church which has services once a month –on Sundays the nearest Church is Notre Dame in the nearby town of Bourbonne les Bains 10 minutes drive away. Mass is at 11am .

Walks in the surrounding countryside are easy and there are maps available in the house. On turning left out of the house is a road which takes you over the hill and down to the local lake where fishing and swimming are permitted. Bicycles and horses can be hired from neighbouring villages to explore the countryside. Local funfairs travel to the villages and many local fetes are held in the surrounding villages.

Bourbonne Les Bains is the nearest small town and has a market every Wednesday from 8am -4pm and is well worth a visit –it has everything from cabbages to designer clothes !

This spa was used by the soldiers from the Napoleonic wars and was traditionally a military spa until recent times when it was given to the town of Bourbonne for general use. It is always busy –exceptionally clean and well run and terrific for anyone at all in need of a tonic! It is approximately 25 pounds sterling for a morning’s treatment which may include mud wraps lymph drainage and a massaging mineral bath.
