Luxury Country House in the French Pyrenees near Argeles Gazost.This luxury house is located in the beautiful Pyrenees and has magnificent views. Luxury Country House in the French Pyrenees near Argeles Gazost

This is is a fantastic area for sports lovers. There are skiing resorts close by: Cauterets, Hautacam (both 21km), rafting, canoeing and kayaking in Argelès-Gazost (5km), many walking and cycling tracks, and horse riding at Ouzous (1.5km). The Tour de France passes nearby. There is a sports complex in Argelès-Gazost with tennis courts and swimming pools and trout fishing 5km away. Five adult bikes are provided at the property; bike hire is possible in Lourdes. There is an 18 hole golf course just outside Lourdes.

Exterior
The magical views of the Pyrenées make this property quite unique. The house is set in 3000sqm of grounds consisting of sloping grassy gardens at the heart of a small village; the house, pool and terraces are not overlooked. There is a vast terrace with an electric awning at ground level, ideal for outdoor meals, and a further terrace around the swimming pool with an outdoor shower on a lower level; both enjoy the fantastic views. The swimming pool, which is heated between May and September to between 22°C and 25°C free of charge, has a shallow section. There is a decorative pond in the garden (mainly dry in the summer).

Interior

A talented interior designer has beautifully decorated the interior with quality furniture and many charming touches. Attention has been paid to each detail in each room and each bedroom has en suite bathroom facilities. A welcoming hallway leads directly to the left into a large open-plan room consisting of a sitting area around a fireplace, a dining area and very well-equipped kitchen, all opening onto the terrace; to the right is a separate wc, a shower room with a wc, a double bedroom with doors to the terrace.

On the first floor is a comfortable sitting room on the landing, three double bedrooms and three bathrooms each with a bathtub, a separate shower unit and a wc. The second floor has air-conditioning and offers a massage room with various pieces of equipment on the landing, a large room with a double bunk bed, and a spacious cinema room with a projector and comfortable seating. All the beds are very wide and all the bedrooms (not second floor) open out onto a balcony with wonderful views.

The annexe is attached to the main house with a separate entrance. At ground level is a hallway with steps up to the first floor where all the rooms are located. The living room and the bedroom open onto a balcony with views.

The Terrace, Swimming pool
& Petanque Court

The terrace and swimming pool area has been built with security in mind. All gates have locks and in addition, the 10m x 5m heated swimming pool has an electronically operated cover.

Overlooking the swimming pool and outdoor shower, the terrace is an ideal area to eat, drink, entertain or simply relax and watch the world go by.

There is a 14 seat solid teak table where BBQ’s cooked on the traditional Italian charcoal burner with “rapid fire” start up system can be enjoyed. For those of you who prefer the modern way, there is also a Weber gas BBQ!

For the sporty types, there is a purpose made petanque court. If you’ve never tried this popular French sport, now is the time to have a go. All equipment is provided.

Ground Floor

All areas of the ground floor are fitted with Spanish floor tiles providing under floor heating for winter comfort.

There is direct access onto the terrace allowing you to make the most of the fresh air and mountain scenery.

Living Area

The ground floor consists of an open plan lounge with log fire, old style record player with over 50 vinyls and a deluxe seven seat settee.

You can relax after a hard days skiing or sightseeing on the deluxe seven seat settee with foot rest option which faces the "easy light" Richard Le Droff chiminee with cantilever door. There is a stero HIFI system with over 50 vinyl records.

Dining Area

At the heart of the dining room is a three metre solid mahogany dining table with extensions and chairs to seat up to fourteen people.

Alternatively, walk through the French doors or the double sliding doors to the terrace for a spot of alfresco dining.

Kitchen Area

The open plan kitchen with breakfast bar is fitted with refrigerator / freezer (including ice-maker & water purifier), Smeg six ring gas hob and double oven, microwave, toaster, kettle, juicer, multi-variety coffee maker and dish washer.

A full range of utensils and cutlery is also provided, everything you need to prepare that cordon bleu feast! Alternatively, you may wish to call on the services of the delicatessen in Argeles Gazost to prepare and deliver your meal.

Cloakroom

A separate cloakroom with basin and WC is also located on the ground floor.

Bedroom 1

Situated to the front of the ground floor is a double bedroom with 2mx2m mahogany bed with stunning views over the surrounding Pyrenees. The bedroom has its own private access out on to the ground floor terrace and also benefits from its own separate shower room, toilet and wash basin.

First Floor

All flooring on the first floor is wood with under floor heating.

Mezzanine

This area houses the 42" wall mounted plasma TV connected to DVD and Satellite. A monocular is available to view the ski lift at Hautacam to see if it is sufficiently pleasant to make the thirty minute trip to ski or to hike.

Bedroom 2 - Master Bedroom

The master bedroom has been decorated with an oriental twist. The beautiful silk kimono hung to the right of the 2m x 2m mahogany bed adds to the calm serenity of this spacious room. The bed faces the large French doors, which open on to the impressive Pyrenees mountainscape.

The master bedroom has a large en-suite bathroom with separate walk in shower, WC and double basin unit. If you’re holidaying with friends, remember to arrive early and “bagsy” this bedroom, perhaps by putting your pyjamas under the duck feather filled pillows!!

Bedroom 3

Perfectly decorated in a neutral colour with a splash of dusty pink, this double bedroom with 2m x 2m teak bed enjoys beautiful views. Keep the French doors on to the private terrace wide open in to the night, to enjoy the sunset. Opposite this bedroom there is a large private bathroom (with the biggest bath in the house!) and separate shower, WC and basin.

Bedroom 4

A secluded double bedroom with 2m x 2m teak bed is located at the end of the first floor corridor. Decorated in light, airy colours, bedroom 4 enjoys an en-suite bathroom with separate shower, wash basin and WC. French doors from the bedroom open on to a private balcony area with table and chairs overlooking the spectacular view.

Second Floor

Relaxation Area

The second floor is home to the ultimate “relaxation area”. This area includes a massage centre with a variety of equipment including the ultimate massage chair with eight full body massage programmes, a calf and foot massager, and a reflexology machine.

Study Area

Adjacent to the relaxation is the study area. This is hooked up with a computer with broadband wireless internet connection.

Cinema Room & Library

The cinema room is kitted out with Cabesse speakers, Harman amplifier and Pioneer projector for screening onto the ten foot cinema wall.

There are various settees, chairs and futons to seat ten cinema goers in comfort and our DVD library carries about a hundred classic movies dating from the 1930's (Thirty Nine Steps & Stagecoach!) through to present day action (James Bond Casino Royale). There is something for everyone. There is also a great selection of books.

Bedroom 5

Situated in the eaves of the house, bedroom 5 is the largest of all the bedrooms. This bedroom houses a double bunk with Japanese double tatami bed underneath and also has room for the additional double reclining futon. There is a large en-suite jet shower room with toilet and vanity unit, which also doubles up as the cinema cloakroom facilities.

Self Contained Annexe

Kitchen Diner

The chalet/gite is located above the double garage and comprises a large entrance hall with stairs to the kitchen diner. The kitchen is fully equipped with fridge freezer, microwave, four ring gas hob oven, washing machine, dishwasher and a full complement of cooking utensils, cutlery and plates for four guests.

Shower Room

Lying adjacent to the kitchen is the shower room with toilet, wash basin and large changing area.

Sitting Room

Along the corridor from the kitchen lies the sitting room with sofa bed, 26" flat screen TV with satellite, DVD player and a stereo system. The French doors open on to the balcony, which overlooks the village and the surrounding mountains.

Annexe Bedroom
(Bedroom 6)

This large bedroom has twin 1.2m x 2m beds with matching furniture, together with access to the balcony and wonderful views.
