Golden stone buildings frame a grass courtyard in 25 acres of meadow and woodland - Cubertou is something special. Since 1964, when it ceased to be a working farm (although cows still graze the meadows...) and became an arts centre run by a painter and his ballet dancer wife, Cubertou has been a place which has charmed, inspired and delighted many. Laughter and companionship lingering over lazy meals in the huge barn; star-gazing lying in the grass courtyard at the exceptional night skies; returning to a haven of peace and quiet after sightseeing in this unspoilt area of exceptional historic and cultural interest - however you choose to use Cubertou, you won't be disappointed.

A huge barn opens onto one side of the central courtyard and provides shade for daytime activities, and a candle-lit dining area. The country kitchen is architect-designed to make catering for larger numbers a joy.

Colourful, simple rooms are in three buildings on three sides of the courtyard : the main house, the long barn/tower and the square barn (The fourth side is the huge open barn deeply shaded for cool meals, and there is an additional ping pong or studio barn). Rent only the main house (sleeps 8) if that gives you enough beds, or add on the long barn/tower (sleep 10) and/or the square barn (sleeps 3-5) for larger numbers. Whatever you decide you will have the whole place to yourselves.

The Main house : kitchen (with semi-professional cooker - 5 gas rings and 2 electric ovens) designed for easy catering for larger numbers), huge peacock blue 'salon', double bedroom with antique French wooden bed, three twin rooms (including one with hand-basin and French windows to the meadow), 1 WC, 1 shower room, 1 bath/shower room. Sleeps 8.

The long barn/tower : three twin rooms and two singles, all with hand basins, plus two single ' gallery ' rooms in the tower (a particular favourite with youngsters, but with steep steps not suitable for smaller children), 2 WCs, 2 showers, extra handbasin for tower dwellers. Sleeps 10.

The square barn : a spacious family "loft" room, well insulated with one double and two single beds; separate single bedroom with hand basin and private terrace, 2 WCs, 1 shower & hand basin. Sleeps 3-5
