Situated in fertile, rolling countryside between Bergerac and Marmande, this beautifully restored house was once a presbytery. Vigneau comfortably sleeps fifteen in one double and five twin bed rooms, and three single beds in the play - sitting area on the first floor. Escassefort , 3km, has two bakers, post office, bar and shop. In Seyches, 5kms, are a much loved restaurant and bar, good tennis courts, a butcher, baker, newsagent, bank,pharmacy and doctor. Marmande, 10kms away has a wide range of shops and supermarkets, and TGV rail connections to Bordeaux, Paris and via Eurostar to London.

The house is ideal for exploring the Dordogne and Lot valleys, the bastide towns, the forest of the Landes, and both the famous Bordeaux and the local Marmande and Duras, wine regions. St Emilion is less than an hour's drive away and the Atlantic coast and the prehistoric caves at Les Eyzies are both around one and a half hours drive by car. Fishing , canoeing and bicycle hire are all available nearby.During the summer months there are some excellent Jazz, Blues and Classical events in nearby towns and villages, and further details of previous visiors' local discoveries can be found in the guest books in the hall. We hope you will add your own. Above all, however, visitors enjoy the peace, the beautiful countryside and the comfortable climate.

Inside, rooms are spacious and comfortably furnished. The entrance hall - sitting room contains the Broadwood grand piano, and the dining hall, with a table which easily seats 12, opens on to the garden. A further sitting room has books, an open fire and satellite TV, ( you need to bring your own de coder ) and the kitchen is large and light. All first floor bedrooms have private facilities ( either en suite or immediately next door) with the two ground floor bedrooms sharing a further bathroom, and yet another WC.

The garden is south - facing , about one acre, mainly lawn broken up by shrubs and gravel paths with trees providing plenty of shade. There is a dining table for meals on the terrace, and smaller tables and chairs dotted about the garden provide peaceful havens. The heated swimming pool is 11 x 5 meters, and supplied with plenty of sunloungers and deck chairs. Wide Roman steps lead into the 1.0m shallow end, which descends to 2.0m deep end. An electronic alarm system has been installed to meet French government safety requirements.
