Spend your holiday in a peaceful rural setting - yet with all the essentials for your stay in France. My home and your gite are in a small hamlet down a safe country lane. The benefits of being in private grounds give you the opportunity to relax after a day’s sightseeing - watching the sun set as you enjoy a glass of wine.

Or if you have done enough driving just stay put, use the pool, relax and unwind. Life here is very restful in this unspoilt part of France. I live in the main house and are there to welcome you. After that I am available whenever you need me!  Beryl Cottage, together with two other gites - the Bread Oven (property reference number 7911) - and the Field Cottage (property reference number 7918) which are also available to rent for larger parties, groups or families wanting to holiday together but independently, stand in the grounds of my own home. Overlooking open fields, which are used for grazing cattle and growing sunflowers, and on the edge of a hamlet near Lezay this is a good cycling and walking area and is within easy reach of La Rochelle, Poitiers and Futuroscope. Nearby Lezay and Melle have weekly markets, restaurants and supermarkets and there are swimming lakes at Sauze - Vaussais and Lambon both 20 minutes drive.

The majority of the grounds are available for your use with plenty of space for football, badminton, cricket etc. I can supply the bats and balls. There is also a swing suitable for children. Outside the gite there is a grassed area with garden furniture and barbecue, parking for a car and use of the shared 12 X 6 metre salt water pool is close at hand. Inside there is a kitchen/dining/sitting area. The kitchen is well equipped with fridge/freezer, dishwasher, microwave and electric coffee maker as well as the usual cutlery and crockery. Cooking is by bottled gas. The dining area has a table and four chairs.

The sitting area has a sofa and two easy chairs; TV (french), with video and DVD that will play UK videos/DVDs and a radio/cassette/CD, with long wave, for those who like to keep in touch with the UK! I also have a supply of videos you can borrow.

The first bedroom has a double bed, wardrobe and dressing table with drawers. A hair dryer is provided. The second bedroom has two single beds with wardrobe and chest of drawers. There is a shower room with toilet All bed linen, towels and tea towels are supplied at no extra charge.

A washing machine, tumble drier, iron and ironing board are available in the laundry room next to the main house. There is also a games room equipped with dart board, table tennis, snooker table, table football and a selection of board games.

I have a cot and high chair for you to borrow if you have very young children as well as a single Z-bed. The gite comfortably sleeps 4. There is no telephone in the gite itself but incoming calls can be received the main house. I ask that the inside of the gite remains a no smoking area.  Although the changeover day is normally a saturday I will consider a wednesday.
