Dordogne/Haute Vienne near Piegut country stone cottage.La Petite Maison a la Glycine (Wisteria Cottage), has been fully restored using all original materials, and believe we have successfully created 'olde worlde' French charm, incorporating modern living. We are conveniently situated on the borders of the Haute Vienne (an unspoilt region of France) and the more popular Dordogne.

Accommodation:

Large Lounge area: with comfortable seating, exposed original oak beams. Large fireplace with wood burning stove. Double Doors opening onto a terrace area with outside seating.

Kitchen: comprising of ample base units and working surface, constructed from ancient oak beams that have been turned and polished. An old restored 'Armoire', now used as a china/crockery cabinet.

Bedrooms. 2 double bedrooms with ample storage. The second double bedroom, although advertised as double, can easily be converted to a twin room if required. Both bedrooms are light and airy, with velux windows in both.

Bathroom: Spacious room with bath, washbasin/vanity unit and a large separate 'walk-in' shower.

W.C: Separate toilet.

Outside area and facilities: We are lucky to have a separate stone building, with a large opening facing the garden on the far side, complete with terrace area. We use this space as a summer house and BBQ area and somewhere to enjoy the shade, or to enjoy the late summer evenings complete with a bottle of good wine!

General Description:

The property stands in 1.5 acres of ground, mainly laid to lawn on the edge of forestry; an ideal location for tranquillity, peacefulness and many woodland and country walks. For those of you who appreciate wildlife, we are lucky to see an abundance of birds, including buzzards, red and black-wing stars, wood peckers and on certain occasions the unusual hoopoo. Early mornings and early evenings are the best times to see deer grazing in the gardens and surrounding area.

Although this property has no swimming pool, we are lucky to have a glorious fresh water swimming lake, complete with white sand beach well within a 15 minute car journey. See below for further information.

Situation: Directly on the Haute Vienne and Dordogne border.

15 minutes from the small market town of Piegut. Here you will find the usual restaurants, cafe's and bars. Wednesday is market day, when the town of Piegut comes to life. This is arguably one of the best markets in the area, selling local produce and regional products, right through to hand made pottery, plants and anything in-between.

Our main local village 'Marval', has a local shop, post office and bar/restaurant. You will find the local people extremely helpful and friendly; just try out your french (however little) and it will be much appreciated.

A 10 minute early evening walk can take you to the Chateau Ballerand. Although the chateau is privately owned, the view across the large lake and extensive gardens is breathtaking.

Within 15 minutes car ride, St.Estephe boasts a stunning fresh water swimming lake, complete with a beautiful white sand beach, shaded picnic areas amongst the trees with rustic tables and chairs, a pontoon to swim to for sunbathing or diving. All amenities are to an extremely high standard. A bar/restaurant is located to the side of the lake, and refreshments are also available near to the beach with a decked terrace. Two other excellent swimming lakes are within easy reach.
