Alsace is known for its half-timbered towns surrounded by forests and gentle mountains, ideal for outdoor activities including hiking, bird watching, skiing and mountain biking.

It started in 58 BC, when the Romans put Alsace on the historical map. In the 5th Century, the Alemanni invaded Alsace; followed swiftly by the Merovingians who reorganised the area with the help of the Church.

Circa 625-630, The name Alsace appeared for the first time; it was then a Dukedom which split into two halves around 740-750. These coincided roughly with today’s departments of Bas Rhin and Haut Rhin .

Alsace is a unique experience as you explore a part of the region that is nestled between the beautiful Vosges mountains in France and the borders of Germany and Switzerland, Alsace is a region rich in traditions.
